Get Your Registration Forms In!

The first meeting of the Cougar Dragons was well attended and more than 25 registration packages were handed out. Since then another 10 have been requested. This bodes well for the KDBRC this year. Please return your forms to Mr. Mackinnon in A226 as soon as possible so we can start the planning.

If you know of anyone who is interested in joining the Dragon Boat club, please send them along to A226 so they can pick up a registration package.

Fall Splash

Killarney's own Cougar Dragons are splashing out this fall with a joint paddle with Vancouver's premier mixed multi-cultural adult team Gung Haggis Fat Choy. Todd Wong, coach of both Killarney and GHFC extended the invitation and Killarney readily accepted. This gives the youth team the chance to paddle with an experienced recreational team, while giving the older paddlers the chance to mentor new and enthusiastic novice paddlers. A win-win for sure. If you would like paddle with Killarney's Dragon Boat Racing Club visit Mr. Mackinnon in room A226 or Ms. Greer in the library. New members--male or female, grades 8 to 12--are always welcome!

Rio Tinto Alcan Success

The Killarney Cougar Dragons finished a successful season of Dragon Boat racing finishing 5th in the 'C' division final, once again well within competitive range. Like the Dragon Zone 500 before it, there was less than 2 seconds between 3rd and 5th place. Alcan is a much more competitive event with more, better and stronger teams competing.

Congratulations to all the Cougar Dragons!

Cougar Dragons excel at Dragon Zone 500

Killarney rose above all expectations to finish 5th in the "C" division final at the Dragon Zone 500 regatta. There were less than than 2 seconds difference between the 3rd and 5th placed teams in the final, with Killarney racing against much more experienced youth and adult teams. The Cougar Dragons paddled extremely well and showed that we will be a real contender for the Rio Tinto Alcan Festival later in June. Congratulations to all the Cougar Dragons for their hard work over the past weeks of practice. Thanks to Coach Todd, Steersperson Steven and our new 'team mum' Ms. Mendoza for your help. Thanks also to our managers Ms. Greer and Mr. Mackinnon for organizing the team.

Paddling Begins After Spring Break

Wow! Lots of interest in Dragon Boat paddling already! Quite a few people of stopped by A226 to ask when paddling starts. We will dip our paddles after spring break. The weather is still pretty unpredictable and so we will wait for smoother seas. Drop by A226 anytime for more info and watch here for updates.
